New studio is almost finished! To help “break it in” so to speak, I am going to begin reserving appointment times for the Raspberry Snap service! So far, I will be doing 3 days in March- March 7th, 13th, and 21st. These will be done with white backdrop with colorful elements for a fun theme to start spring! There will be various items that may or may not be used in your portraits, it’s up to you! First, I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas/Holiday!!! I of course was sick. I say of course because I always seem to be on Christmas!!!) For the New Year, I will certainly be lining up a series of Raspberry Snap sessions. (http://www.sawickistudios.com/raspberrysnap) These are going to be GREAT and I am very excited about it! Our new studio addition is still under construction, so I will begin planning them as soon as things get back to normal (so to speak!) However, we will be doing the “Family Model Search” sessions after the new year. What is the “Family Model Search”?! Last year Sawicki Studios participated in the International Charity Children’s Model Search and it was a GREAT success! This year we are participating again but this time it is for families. North America’s Cutest Family will be raising funds for the non-profit Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Foundation (NILMDTS.org)

MODEL SEARCH SPECIAL

$30 entrance fee includes an up to 20 minute session and one image submitted to the national gallery. You may purchase any of the images for specially priced prints & packages. If you’ve had or are planning to have a regular family session between the dates of November 1st 2009 and April 5th 2010, you may opt to submit an image from the session into the contest at no additional cost.

Finalists will be determined by online votes. Each vote is $1 (no limit on the amount of votes you can cast), and all proceeds from votes benefit Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (NILMDTS.org).

Grand prize international winner will be determined from the 52 city finalists. The winners will be selected from the finalist gallery by photography and modeling industry experts.  The winning family also receives a session with the renowned portrait artist Sandy Puc’ and international recognition.

Chris did a session for “First for Women” magazine last December at the Some Girls Boutique in Albany, but for some reason, it never made it into the magazine. (unless we missed it!) Just as promised, here are some of the images from our Friday night wedding bride, Meghan!! Again, she was SUCH a trooper hanging outside in the freezing cold- she ROCKS! Anything to get amazing images- and this she got!!!!

What a way to end our 2009 weddings! Wedding and reception at the lovely Hall of Springs in Saratoga. So as you know, it was FREEZING yesterday, but that didn’t make the night any less beautiful! And the beautiful bride Meghan is an amazing trooper. Her and the new hubby live out of state, so tomorrow she will be doing a trash the dress- so look out for a blog with those! I have been VERY bad at blogging  lately, but the holiday season- personally and for business- is insane!! So now I give you, Meghan & Joe!!!!

So it appears that we are being used for a scam. Someone is preying on models by sending them a “job” and linking them to our site to show “their” portfolio. It is from the email address “sawickiphotoservice@gmail.com” We found out because one of the models called us to find out if we were offering a legit job. Here is one of the emails they sent her (complete with bad grammar):

The shooting will be hold at a rented photographers studio in your location,so you don’t have to worry about traveling,the name and address of the studio will be forwarded to you a week before the date of the shooting,all make up will be taken care of in the studio.You can come along with any body of your choice on the day of the shooting,your mum,dad,friend,body-guard anybody you wish to come with just for you to feel more comfortable.

We are now getting hits from our site from email inboxes from all different states which must be from this. If anyone gets one of these or know anyone who did, this is a SCAM and is NOT from us!!! Or if you get this same thing with someone claiming to be a different photographer/studio, do not fall for it! Scams are VERY rampant this day in age. Protect yourself!

Such a sweet little one, and SUCH a beautiful family! She did wonderful for her first photoshoot!

Oh how I love the stretches!!!

We (mostly Chris!) were featured in the Schenectady Daily Gazette today! It was a great article and so pleased to be a part of it. Here are a few shots of the paper all over my floor!

They also said that the above image was Kate Costello, but it is not! They just used one of the images Chris had given them, and I guess thought it was Kate!

Though I was very disappointed in the part mentioning Chris “has broken into a lot of spaces that he probably shouldn’t have.” I must reiterate that this is not something he does “a lot” and he does not “break in” as in kicking in doors or climbing through windows as I feel that part of the article portrayed. (she specifically asked, he answered, but not in those words!) He makes sure the areas are safe, and already open and takes a chance. Surely if it was closed off, unsafe or posted no-trespassing, he would not go in. I felt it was important to say this as this is not what Chris is all about. He’s about going to various places, using his amazing lighting skills will studio lighting (that he brings everywhere!) and making any location look AMAZING. Even if to the normal person, it looks much, much less than ideal.

We are going to be launching a new portrait site (for families, babies, & children) within the next few days. One thing we are going to start doing on the new site is have a “featured” section. The “B” family will be the first!
