Serving the Upstate NY Capital Region and beyond since 2007
Why hire us
on one of the most important days of your life?
With so many years of experience & over 300 weddings photographed, we know the dance that needs to be done to make things go smoothly. We've worked in almost every condition, & we are well-versed in how to deal with them all. We will also go above & beyond to make sure that we get all of the important & fleeting moments, captured with the most optimal composition.
We also know how important it is to enjoy your day, so we work swiftly and effectively so that you aren't spending the whole day taking photos.
Our Approach
Our photographic style can be described as modern and unique yet timeless and classic. We use our signature stylized flare sparingly to sprinkle in a little magic into our client's images while remaining authentic to them and their day- which is a mix of candid photojournalism (documentary style) with a good helping of fine art. We don't hop on fleeting fads that won't stand the test of time (besides a little dabbling for fun or to pepper in a little bit!) or use any type of color-altering filters. We strive to remain true-to-life so that in 10 years down the road, no one wonders "What were we/they thinking?"! (Because in all honesty, we have some photos from 10+ years ago that we feel that way about now! Some of these trends are returning, but we've already learned our lesson!)
Our goal is to simply be visual storytellers through our artistic vision with quality and expertise.
We are also very laid-back and are always calm & collected, which helps our clients feel comfortable throughout the day and through every interaction. During formal photos, which we only spend a limited amount of time on unless otherwise necessary or desired by the couple, we aim to guide you as naturally as possible, so nothing feels (or looks!) forced or stiff. We provide guidance but are never obtrusive, aiming only to enhance your experience in a positive way!

Chris Sawicki
photographer/ Editor

Starting out as an editor in photoshop, Chris quickly transitioned to being a professional photographer with his ability to achieve expertise in photography, lighting and editing while being almost completely self-taught. Chris is not only an artist with the camera, but takes it to the next level with his unique and skilled post-processing. Chris is also laid-back and humorous- so he can get clients to give natural expressions instead of stiff, posed and forced.
Jen Sawicki
photographer/ Designer/ Manager

Wife to Chris, mother of 4 and founder of Sawicki Studios (which was previously Jennifer Sawicki Photography!). After a long hiatus following the birth of their youngest son in 2012 until about 2016, she is back to photographing weddings again as much as possible and continues to do much of the behind-the-scenes work which includes design for albums, marketing, social media and the website. Jen's style is best described as photojournalistic with focus on the natural moments and details.
Our Story
IN A NUTSHELL!
After the birth of our daughter in 2004, Jen began learning photography through the New York Institute of Photography (back when they only taught film!), graduating a few years later with a merit award, and Chris became highly interested in learning Photoshop techniques.
In 2006, Jen began photographing children & babies and then started photographing weddings in May of 2007. This is also when Chris started high school senior portraits and joined Jen in weddings. Chris quickly realized the art he could create with photography by the use of lighting, composition and post-production, and it's been an ongoing evolution ever since! Chris is one of (if not THE!) first photographers in the area to incorporate the use of off-camera lighting at weddings, even earning two awards through WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) in just the first few years that we began our career. He was also featured in a few local newspapers and had work published in both ELLE and FIRST for women magazines at that time.
Having been married for 20+ years ourselves, we love seeing other people start on their journey of marriage and really enjoy capturing the most magical day of our client's lives!

We know how much you want to hang on to these moments...
documenting this day is so important
We were married on July 8th 2001, and now that so many years have passed since then, we cherish all of the photos that we have from that day. Although photography then was nothing like it is now, we understand the importance of what is left after that day is long gone, how important the photos (and videos) are. This day in age, you have the luxury of being very selective in your choice of photographer. This is why we are so grateful for those who entrust us to capture these moments in time.
